Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 July 2026

This page explains what data we collect when you visit this site or reserve a Stormbell, why we collect it, and what your choices are. We have tried to keep it short and honest. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@getstormbell.com.

1. Who we are

Stormbell is a trading name of Hull Software Solutions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16461285). We are the data controller for the personal data described on this page.

You can reach us any time at hello@getstormbell.com.

2. What we collect

  • Email and reservation details. When you reserve a Stormbell, we collect the email address you give us and the details of your reservation.
  • Payment information. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card details never touch our servers. We receive confirmation that you paid, the amount, and the email address you used at checkout.
  • Ad measurement data — only with your consent. If you accept cookies, the Meta Pixel collects cookie identifiers, pages you view, and actions you take (such as reserving) so we can measure whether our ads work. If you decline, none of this happens. See Cookies below.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure) keeps basic logs — IP address, browser user agent, pages requested — for security and to keep the site running.

3. Why we use it, and our legal bases

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), we need a legal basis for each use of your data. Here they are:

  • Taking and refunding deposits, and contacting you about Stormbell. Legal basis: performing our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping you informed about the product you reserved. Deposits are fully refundable — if you ask for a refund, we use your data to process it.
  • Ad measurement via the Meta Pixel. Legal basis: your consent. The pixel loads only if you opt in, and you can withdraw consent at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer.
  • Security and site operation (server logs). Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and available.

4. Cookies & similar technology

We use one piece of essential storage of our own, and — only if you consent — cookies set by Meta for ad measurement.

Name Set by Type Lifetime Purpose
sb-consent Us (localStorage) Essential Until cleared Remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies.
_fbp (and similar) Meta (third party) Ad measurement ~90 days Measures whether our ads led to visits and reservations. Set only after you consent.

Plainly: if you decline, the Meta Pixel never loads and no ad-measurement cookies are set. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decline. You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer.

5. Who we share data with

  • Stripe — processes your deposit payment and any refund.
  • Formspree — our form provider, which receives the email address you submit when reserving.
  • Meta — receives ad-measurement data, but only if you consent to the pixel.
  • Microsoft Azure (our hosting provider) — holds the server logs described above.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with data brokers. We share it with no one else, unless the law requires us to.

6. International transfers

We are a UK company and most of our visitors are in the United States, so your data may be processed in the UK, the EU, and the US. Where our providers move data across borders, they rely on standard contractual protections — such as Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it.

7. How long we keep data

  • Reservation emails — kept until the Stormbell launch effort concludes, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.
  • Refunded or cancelled reservations — deleted within a reasonable period after the refund or cancellation.
  • Pixel data — retained by Meta according to Meta's own retention periods.
  • Server logs — short-lived; kept only as long as needed for security.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to: access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to how we use it, give it to you in a portable format, or withdraw any consent you have given. Email hello@getstormbell.com and we will act on your request. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

US state privacy rights. If you are a California resident — or live in another US state with a privacy law — you may have similar rights of access, deletion, and opt-out. In practice we honor these requests for everyone, regardless of which state you live in. We do not sell personal information. If you consent to the Meta Pixel, the resulting disclosure to Meta may qualify as “sharing” under the CCPA/CPRA — you can opt out at any time via Cookie settings in the footer, and we treat Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out.

9. Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is material — for example, collecting new kinds of data — we will flag it clearly on the site.
